The Grassland Chiropractic & Rehabilitation Clinic offers chiropractic care and massage therapy to its patients. Dr. Bollenbaugh brings a "team approach" to patient care that was developed from his previous work in a multi-discipline clinic with medical doctors and physical therapists. If necessary, he will make referrals for conditions that should be treated by medical specialists. Dr. Bollenbaugh believes his patients should have a voice in how best to treat their pain or problems. Working together with a patient, Dr. Bollenbaugh will develop a treatment and therapy plan. Available treatment options include the following:
Chiropractic Adjustment – Dr. Bollenbaugh offers three types of adjustments: manual/diversified, which produces a popping sound; gentle mobilization, where a spinal joint is massaged to restore motion; or the Activator instrument adjustment, which is the most gentle option (producing a tap similar to the well-known knee reflex tap) but can sometimes require more visits than the other adjustment techniques. All adjustment techniques can help restore motion to a joint.
Flexion/Distraction – Gentle stretching and traction helps alleviate pressure on vertebral discs and joints and can be very effective in the treatment of degenerative and bulging low back discs. It has also proven effective for the treatment of bulged/herniated discs, sciatica/leg pain, spinal stenosis, and spinal spondylolisthesis. During treatment, the patient will feel low back stretching that can provide significant pain relief.
Clothed Regional Massage – Specific areas of discomfort are massaged to aid in soft tissue healing.
Electrical (Muscle) Stimulation – Gentle pulsing contracts and releases to aid in decreasing muscle tightness and spasms while also providing pain relief and improving circulation.
Ultrasound Therapy – Provides deep heating under the skin to provide pain relief, decrease acute swelling an inflammation, and aid in tissue healing. Recommended for those with sprains, strains, and tendonitis.
Therapeutic Exercises & Stretching – Once the acute phase of a condition is resolved, condition-specific exercises are needed to strengthen and stabilize the weakened area. By properly strengthening the injured region, it can decrease the chances for re-injury.
Massage Therapy -- Massage therapy helps the rehab process by focusing on musculoskeletal treatments to help alleviate a condition. A licensed massage therapist on staff offers the following types of massage: Therapeutic/Neuromuscular, Trigger Point, Deep Tissue, and Myofascial Release. Appointments can be scheduled for half-hour, hour, or 1.5-hour massages. Contact our office to help determine the type of massage that would best benefit you.
